Catching up?!

I realize that most people feel like the can never catch up...

I never get caught up with laundry.
I never get caught up with organizing.
I never get caught up with paperwork.
I never get caught up with ....

The list could go on, but it is pointless, and it is somewhat meaningless. My goal is to stay at a point where the 'undone' is not overwhelming, but to also recognize that much of the day - to -day doesn't matter.

I will focus on my blessings.
I will focus on my children and my husband.
I will take the time to reach out to a friend in need.
I will do the best I can with what is in front of me because that is what God called me to do at this moment, on this day.
Please forgive me.
After my previous post (nearly one month ago), I refocused. I relaxed. I worked hard, but in a relaxed way. I accepted what was dealt and I prayed. David left the country and I prayed. Labor Day weekend while David was away, I spent my days playing with the kids (even attended a Vandy tailgate and football game) and my nights proofreading my grant. The following day, my grant was the 3rd one submitted by our hospital for this cycle and it was error free! Now, I wait. I am at peace. I don't know what will happen and I will not allow myself to worry. It will be December or January until I know the results.
David returned and we vacationed at Orange Beach, AL. It was such a blessing to spend the week with my family without 'distractions'. David's parents joined us for much of the trip. The kids played in the sand, in the ocean and in the pool. It is so easy to marvel at God's work in such a beautiful place and I feel like this trip brought me even closer to my children and them to each other.

It has been good to dive back into experiments in the lab this week and to plan out the next 6 months of 'goals'. We had a paper accepted for publication at Gastroenterology this week (making that the 3rd paper I have co-authored this year). Challenges lie ahead, but while I may never catch up and I going to try my best (with God's help) to stay focused and at peace.

The coming month is always busy with Samantha's birthday, our annual trip to the Pumpkin Farm, and a visit from my folks. I cannot wait to see what God has instore.
