What a month!

I cannot believe its been over 3 weeks since I posted. Well, maybe I can believe it, but I do wish I would have found the time to update you all as to the happenings down here in Franklin, TN. We had a great visit with Uncle Joe, Aunt Amanda, and Grandma. Daddy had a nice, productive trip to Sweden.

After much research and many discussions with my mommy friends, we decided that getting tubes put in to AJ's ears was the best thing for him. He had them done on July 24th and bounced right back into the swing of things. AND for almost a week now he has only woke once a night to feed and goes right back to bed---FABULOUS! I can handle this. Grandma got a real taste of the rough nights when she was here. We had one night where for about 2 or 3 hours he woke up screaming bloody murder every 20 minutes....ugh! Lets hope those days are past us!!

It is unbelievable how fast the kids change. Andrew is crawling and moving from laying down to sitting up independently. He is also trying to pull himself up.

Samantha is doing really well. She cannot decide between wanting to be completely independent and wanting mommy to do EVERYTHING for her- she is one or the other - changing hour by hour. She is enjoying reading books and after going to see her first Children's Theater production while Grandma was here (Go, Dog, Go), she loves that book! She can read it almost word for word to Andrew. Its sooo cute. We had a blast at the pool the other day. Our YMCA has a 'beach' style entry and a kiddie slide that she can do all by herself. She is dressing herself most mornings (with a little encouragement). Now we just have to teach her to stop opening the frig and getting out the milk and yogurt and.....well, you get the picture.

4th of July and more

Six month comparison...isn't that cute? They had coordinating outfits in another time! Samantha on top (in the dress with the WHITE hair and dimples) and Andrew on the bottom (in the shortall with dirty blonde hair and CHUBBY cheeks). They really look alot alike!

We had a fabulous 4th of July weekend. AJ and Samantha were happy and healthy. We had visitors from intown and out of town. Uncle Joey and Aunt Amanda came in (and are still here). Grandmommy and Granddaddy came for the weekend. Grandma Scott is here now but missed the big festivities. About 4o church friends came for our 4th of July party. All the kids played so well together and the weather was great. No rain and it was very comfortable outside.

We were apparently WRONG about Andrew's turning point. He has another ear infection. It started Tuesday and he was running a fever last night and well, not so happy. We are exploring our options for future treatment- possibly prophylactic antibiotics or tubes. Good news is he did gain some weight in the last 2 weeks and at 6 months he is now 15lbs and 15oz. He is also not "arching" as much so we still think that the reflux medicine is helping him.

The kids are enjoying staying home this week with some of the Scotts. Samantha is really enjoying playing puzzles, games (memory mostly) and reading stories with her aunt, uncle and grandma. Andrew is just glad to have so many people around to hold him.

Turning point

These last weeks have been rough between sick kids, time at the doctor, work obligations (including Daddy traveling), BUT ANDREW ONLY WOKE UP ONCE LAST NIGHT!!! YEAH!

I hope this is a turning point and I wanted to share the good news. I think it could have been a combination of the antibiotics and the reflux medicine both kicking in.

We hope this will be a new chapter in our lives --- rested parents make better parents!

We are looking forward to Uncle Joe, Aunt Amanda, Grandmommy, Granddaddy, and Grandma all coming for visits over the next 2-11 days!
